Exterran technologies create microbubbles as small as five microns.

With Exterran Microbubble Flotation (MBF®), oil is removed from produced water more efficiently and effectively than traditional systems. Unlike Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) systems that rely on solubility or typical induced gas flotation (IGF) technologies that use large bubbles, our technologies introduces trillions of microscopic bubbles into the untreated water. Exterran technologies create microbubbles as small as five microns (smaller than a single human hair) to maximize oil separation in some of the highest volume and most difficult produced water applications. The increased surface area and contact time of microbubbles are superior in capturing the smallest of oil particles for skimming.
